Poetry Powerpoint

Reading comprehension is difficult because reading is SUBJECTIVE- you see a different picture than someone else does. Example: The frog was in the water. You might picture a brown frog, or a green frog, or a toad, and is it swimming or on a lily pad or floating?

Reading comprehension is standardized, and difficult. This is a fascinating article about a poet who couldn’t answer the standardized questions for her own poem.https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/standardized-tests-are-so-bad-i-cant-answer-these_us_586d5517e4b0c3539e80c341

Please know that this is a skill that takes time, and some people are naturally able to play the system well and comprehend what is being asked.

To practice: Go to www.newsela.com, https://alberta.exambank.com/grade9.html, and https://www.commonlit.org/- make an account as a student, no classroom.Knowing the terms does not necessarily mean that they can be applied 100% of the time correctly.

Grammar books from amazon.ca could be ordered as well!
